It should be noted that even though many Christians follows or read the same Holy Bible there are many divisions among them. There are divisions among muslims who claims to read the same Arabic quran. But the question to pentecostals is some what unique, because it is about having the same Holy Spirit(though some pentecostals from a particular denomination does not believe that the pentecostals from other denominations are having the same Holy Spirit but different spirits). So the aim of this article is to see from the Holy scripture, whether is it possible for divisions among Christians who have same Holy spirit working among them.

From the Holy  scripture it is clear that the church in Corinth was a spiritual church lacking none of the  spiritual gifts.            1 Corinthians 1:4-7 says," I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus,  that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge— even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you. so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ." But verse 10 and 11 says," I appeal to you, brothers,by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. For it has been reported to me by Chloe's people that there is quarreling among you, my brothers."Thus we saw how a church which claim to have same Holy Spirit have divisions among them.We know that Barnabas and Paul was baptised by the same Holy Spirit.Barnabas proposed taking Mark as a helper, but Paul resisted the idea. The New Testament record indicates that a “sharp contention” developed between them (Acts 15:36-41).They could not reach an agreement, and so they split up.

Thus scripturally speaking denominations can arise even though there is one Holy Spirit which is present.

Conclusion

Denominations are formed mainly due to diverse preferences of peoples (though number of denominations is not equal to the number of peoples) and divisions. In Holy Bible divisions occured between peoples who are led by the same Holy Spirit.Though Holy Spirit want unity still diversity can occur.
