Monkey trap is  (literally probably folk-lore) A cage containing a banana with a hole large enough for a monkey's hand to fit in, but not large enough for a monkey's fist (clutching a banana) to come out. Used to "catch" monkeys that lack the intellect to let go of the banana and run away .The monkey does not know that if he open his fist ,he would be safe .Similarly to this monkey we are trying to achieve many a thing in our fist .We are not aware that we are in a trap set up by Satan . Satan knows very well when we will open our fist and let those things in our hands fall then we would be safe from the trap of Satan.

In Matthew 19:16-22 We can see conversation of a rich young men who had being obeying all the ten commandment of the old testament from his childhood with Jesus .But he wanted to be perfect therefore Jesus said to him to sell all that he possess and give it to the poor and he will have great riches in heaven .At this point he had disappointment because he had great riches which he did not want to leave .He wanted to enjoy the riches of the world .Thus the riches of the world was a obstacle for him to become perfect. Similarly there are various things for us Christians ,who need to keep them away so that we are not in the trap of Satan.

Some of the things we need to keep ourselves  away from are,

1.Love of money :It is not money but love of money which is the root cause of all evil.

                 1 Timothy 6:9-10 says,

But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

In Joshua 7:10-26 we see how Achan become a snare for Israel all because of his love for money.

In Matthew 13:22 we see how the word of God is chocked.

The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.

It is written in 1Timothy 6:17,

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

             In Hebrews 13:5,

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

2.Worldly pleasure :It is written in Titus 2:12,

And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God.

                 In Colossians 3:5,

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.

                    In Ephesians 5:3,

But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.

In last days people will go for worldly desire which are ungodly desire.

In Jude 1:17-18 But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, that they were saying to you, "In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts."

Conclusion

Thus a child of God need to keep themselves away from such things .In order to save themselves from the trap set by Satan .Satan would not be able to catch us in his trap if we try to live our life out of this things.
