The Holy scripture does not forbid nor does it permit Christians to wear ornaments.There are places in the Holy Bible, where the ornaments are spoken favourably(Genesis 24:47 -48, Genesis 41:42,Psalms 25:12,Isaiah 61:10,Jeremiah 2:32,Ezekiel 16:11-13,Luke 15:22).There are also places in the Holy Bible,where the ornaments are spoken unfavourably (Genesis 35:4, Jeremiah: 4:30,  Isaiah: 3:16-25,1Pet: 1: 7, 18,  Exodus: 33:3-6, 1Tim: 2:9,10, 1Pet: 3: 1-5).There is no place in the Holy Bible where God says that you should wear ornaments.But there is a place in the Holy Bible where God says you should remove ornaments(Exodus 33:6).

 

                  It is my opinion based on Holy scripture that Christians should not wear ornaments, but i would not say it is a sin to wear ornaments.If Holy Spirit ask a believer to remove it and if that believer would not obey the voice of Holy Spirit,then it is a sin.The following verses are used by some Christians to show that Bible forbid ornament wearing.

 

                    "Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments,but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness."(1 Timothy 2:9-10).

 

                    "Your adornment must not be merely external-- braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses."(1 Peter 3:3).

 

                  Actually,this verses are saying that one should not give importance to outward appearance but rather to inward appearance.We read in 1 Peter 3:5 that "For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands."Now the question that need to be asked is Did the holy women like Sarah wear ornaments?The answer is yes,they did along with inner beauty.So another question that would be asked "so why do you say that Christian should not wear ornaments?"I would provide the answer briefly.

 

                                         What is a ornament?

                        Ornaments is not at all a gold.This is the mistake some makes.Ornaments can be made of gold , silver , plastic , wood , pearls , stones , etc.It can be defined as a thing used or serving to make something look more attractive but usually having no practical purpose.

 

                      The idea originated by whom?God or Man?      

                          Lucifer was decorated with beautiful things,but God did not made man in that manner.There are holes in our ear as well as in our nose.But God who could make this holes did not create holes for the purpose of wearing a ornaments.People have to create holes to wear ornaments .This fact show that the idea did not originated from God but by men.If the idea had been originated by God ,we dont have to think about following it.No matter what ,we need to follow it because the idea originated from God.Since this idea originated by man we need to think about following it.

 

                               Purpose of wearing ornaments

                         Many of them have asked me,"Why dont you people wear ornaments?"I would answer them by saying that we both have questions to face.The person who is wearing the ornaments has to answer why they wear it and those who dont has to answer why they dont wear it.As for me I would answer them by saying that i was not born by wearing them so I dont wear it.Then they would ask me a foolish question,"then why do you wear clothes?"May be the person who is asking this question does not know why people wear clothes.They might be wearing clothes just because they saw other peoples are wearing it and not with a purpose of covering their nakedness.But when i asked questions to others they have no valid  reasons to wear ornaments.As a Christian we should do things which have purpose behind it.We are not to do things which are meaningless.God has provided us with perfect beauty we dont have to add or enhance it after all we know that our outer body is perishing and our inner body is renewing (2 Corinthians 4:16).So i would say we should enhance our inner beauty.But some say that wearing ornaments would help other to identify their sex.But this would have been a valid reason if only women are the one who are wearing ornaments.Even men wear ornaments.Bible says women should not wear men's cloth.Men should not wear women's cloth ( Deuteronomy 22:5).Men should not have long hair while women should have long hair (1 Corinthians 11:14-15). This is the Biblical way in which sex can be found out,but it is not followed by many in the world.
